Yola Toussaint

I am Yola Tilermaria Toussaint who was born in Bath Estate on December 27th 1981.

I attended the Roseau Girls school and later a primary school in French St, Martin. During my tenure at the Convent High School the seeds of my athletic abilities were sown. I then went on to the Clifton Dupigny Community College I majored in Sociology, History and English in the Arts/Humanities Division.

I am very much at home on stage and in front of the camera, having participated in many pageants such as The Miss Teenage pageant in 1996, Miss Zodiac in 1999 and Miss Millennium in 2000. I was placed among the top three positions and once emerged with the coveted first prize. It was as a Fashion Domnik model (from 1999) and more so as a Mannequins Domnik model (inception 2002) where I am now an instructor and member of the executive committee that I acquired true stage professionalism.

In my photography experience, I have done commercials for Quenchie; The Roseau Cooperative Credit Union and a music video for WCK, Dominica’s Bouyon pioneers. From 2003, Carnival Corner has been graced with my participation as a band member locally and during their visits to Martinique.

I am currently employed as an Educator with the Humane Society of Dominica and will soon be the Manager of the Mango Tango boutique at its new location in Roseau.

My current job builds my interest in becoming a Veterinary Technician, for although my platform is underprivileged children, have an affinity and compassion for animals as well. When I can find the time, as a member of the Bullet Team, I enjoy a good game of netball; I am also an avid volleyball player and cricket scorer (with a real score card). Nothing handles the stresses and strains of my day-to-day activities more than a good river bath.
