Entrepreneur and IT Specialist on ‘This Week in Interview” Wednesday December 30

The Dominican.net radio program ‘This Week in Interview’ on Wednesday December 30, 2009 featured Bernard Hurtault as he discussed emerging technologies and how countries like Dominica can benefit from those innovations.

The one hour program, which ran from 8:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and was hosted by Thomson Fontaine was successfully launched last week with an interview on Climate Change with Ambassador Crispin Gregoire.

This week’s interview focused on the exciting field of technologies in clean energy and other applications discussed its relevance to Dominica.

Bernard Hurtault is a Dominican native based in Dallas, Texas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical technology and manufacturing engineering, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering. He is currently a PhD candidate in systems and industrial engineering at Texas Tech University with research interest in energy efficiencies.

Hurtault is employed as a program manager with Texas instruments where he manages a new product development engineering team. He has led project efforts, totaling tens of millions of dollars to date, developing microchips for the semiconductor industry. His current new product development activity is focused on developing microchips for emerging energy technologies.

In addition, he is an active social entrepreneur working to develop black engineering talent in disadvantaged communities across the US and has an ongoing passion to see economic progress back in his island homeland.
