Internationally acclaimed local reggae artist Nasio Fontaine will feature as the headline act at this year's 5th annual Cable and Wireless Creole in the Park to be held from October 22 to 25.

Nasio, who hails from the South-Eastern village of Bagatelle, will be performing in the land of his birth for the first time, having toured major cities around the world. Some of his hits include Armed and Dangerous, Wanna Go Home, Under Attack, and When. This year's line-up also features a combination of youth and experience and the introduction of a gospel component.

Patrons will get the opportunity to view the talents of the islands young and upcoming bands including Kros Vibes, a band primarily comprised of high school students. Esclav, known for their popular hit 'Sorti Daysan' and the MFR band from Portsmouth are all part of the dynamism to be brought on by the islands young people at this year's event.

The gospel element will feature the powerful voice of young Nicole Christian, a former finalist in the Cable & Wireless Starquest.

The formidable Triple Kay, partners of Cable & Wireless since last year, Impromptu and First Serenade bands are back on the line-up this year. Making their debut is the Reggae band Golden Squad out of Grand bay and Caribbean Vybez. Freddy & Friends are back and so is the Sound Masters from Good Hope and the cadence legends Midnight Groovers.

The experienced Swinging Stars Band and the Calypso Connection featuring some of the islands top calypsonians including Calypso and Soca monarch King Hunter will wrap up day three of the event.

Steel pan, Jing Ping and Lapo Kabwit will also feature prominently on this years line-up.

Cable and Wireless Chief Executive Nabeel Bhatti says the C&W is pleased to be presenting this event for the fifth straight year as the company continues to play a major role in promoting the islands cultural heritage.

"One of the main objectives of this activity is to fill the gap in daytime activities during the independence celebrations, resulting in increased stayover visitors to Dominica. Cable and Wireless is proud to be able to play its part" he added.

The Corporate Partners who are teaming up with Cable and Wireless for the biggest daytime event during the independence celebrations include H.H. V Whitchurch, Josephine Gabriel & Co. Agents for Heineken, United Distributors Ltd agents for Kubuli, BELLO, DEPEX, Tropical Shipping, Kairi FM, DBS Radio, National Petroleum, Cocorico, Events & Tings and Scotts Sports and Trophies.

This year two overseas sponsors, Samsung and Label House of Trinidad have joined as bronze and Gold sponsors respectively, signifying the expansion of support from Cable & Wireless business partners.

Cable & Wireless Dominica will continue to offer the best value, best service, best rates, best coverage and the best of everything including the best daytime event of the Independence season, the Cable and Wireless Creole in the Park.
