Toronto, Canada (TDN) -- The Madame Wob Dwiyet Canada Inc. (MWDC) organization is teaching the honoured tradition of showcasing and carrying the wob dwiyet, to a new generation of girls of Dominican descent.
Recently representatives of MWDC including 2013 Madame Wob Dwiyet Canada Kanika Ambrose, and show choreographer Vanessa Dupuis, appeared on local access Rogers T.V in Toronto, Canada to introduce the Canadian public to Dominica’s national dress, and culture.
Ambrose and Dupie were joined by past MWDC contestant Ingrid Rivere, Ti Madame 2013 Desiree’ Hilton, and Ti Madam participants Kierra Mills and Dominique Bennett.
The lovely madams and ti madams were featured during the Daytime Toronto Show on Rogers TV, and interviewed by host Valerie Cole. The MWDC team was able to speak about Dominica’s culture, the history and significance of the wob dwiyet, and then gave a graceful and colourful dance and display of their dwiyets, made by fashion designer Lorraine Delsol.
The team danced to the theme song of MWDC, composed by Mitchel Paul and Avonelle Bruney-Pinard. The 2014 Madame Wob Dwiyet Canada cultural pageant will take place on September 28th.
