Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe (TDN) -- The Discover Dominica Authority facilitated the promotion of Dominica in Guadeloupe in partnership with the largest shopping mall on the island, the Centre Commercials de Destrelland, from the 4th to the 6th of April.
According to Marketing Executive of Discover Dominica, Daphne Vidal, the upcoming Jazz festival, hike fest and tourism awareness, all in the month of May made it a perfect opportunity to promote the destination by putting Dominica in the minds of the people of Guadeloupe that when they are planning their holiday weekends in May and their summer vacation, they can choose to come to Dominica.
Some of the hotels present at the promotion are the Anchorage hotel, Fortyoung hotel, Sunset Bay Club, Tambrin Tree hotel, and Jungle Bay. Accompanying the promotion group also were, Whitchurch Travel and some members of the Kalinago Dancers Cultural group promoting their culture and selling their Kalinago craft.
Vidal also pointed out that the response from the French people has been very good, even from those who have already visited Dominica, expressing how they have enjoyed their experience in Dominica.
Over 15 000 Guadeloupians visited Dominica in 2012.
