Former government minister Charles Maynard dead at age 78

Roseau, Dominica (TDN) -- Former education minister in the Eugenia Charles Dominica government in the 1980s to mid 90s Charles Maynard has died after a brief hospitalization, he was 78.

Maynard was a career civil servant who served as a permanent secretary in several government ministries during the 1960s and 1970s. He would later serve as a government minister and represented the Soufriere constituency in the country’s parliament from 1990 to 2000.

When he died he was serving as Dominica’s Ambassador to CARICOM and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
