Sammantha Matthew

Energetic, passionate, friendly, loving, ambitious, respectable, God-fearing and fun, are a few words can describe Samantha Matthew, a Capricornian hailing from the quiet Community of Loubiere. I am an independent woman who goes after what she wants. The closeness I share with my parents has helped me become the strong and confident young woman that I am today.

I also share a close relationship with my God therefore I emit a very amicable, loving and calm personality, an asset which I believe is necessary especially in the workplace. Currently I am an employee at the Ministry of Health and Social Security, where I hold the position of Secretary to the Permanent Secretary of that department.

Because of my drive to be successful in all I do, I can now boast that I am one of the first female Rescue Divers and Local Female Dive masters here on my island, thus my passion for the marine life. On an island as beautiful as this Nature Isle where I can testify that there is as much to see on land as there is under the sea, I enjoy the adventures of Scuba Diving, snorkeling, Whale watching and Dolphin expeditions. Because of the adoration I have for the underwater world, in the near future I hope to become Dominica's first female Dive Instructor which will help me in my pursuit to keep my island as one of the top dive destinations in the world.

Being a typical daddy's girl I am confident and highly motivated, I believe that laughter is the key to youthfulness. I have always had a keen interest in the daily life and mobility of the visually impaired on the island, thus my platform in the Miss Dominica 2006 pageant is visual impairment.
