Political Leaders to Discuss Dominican Economy
Severin McKenzie - President Cuban Guild of Graduates

The Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates has observed an absence of objective discussion on critical issues affecting the development of Dominica. The growing trend of leaders shouting at each other on the electronic media, without dialogue, is disturbing.

In an effort to inform and educate the Dominican public on matters related to national development, the Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates will be organizing a series of panel discussions on issues of national significance.

The first topic to be discussed is; An Analysis of the Dominican Economy: The Economic Growth Factor, and invitations have been extended to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt, Leader of the Opposition Honorable Edison James, Dr. William Para Riviere and a representative of the Dominica Freedom Party to be part of the panel.

The discussion will be moderated by a member of the Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates.

The panel discussion is scheduled to be held at 7:30 p.m on Tuesday 6th March, 2007 at the auditorium of the University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies on Elmshall Road. The venue is being made available with the kind compliments of the University of the West Indies Dominica Center.

The discussion will be carried live on KAIRI FM radio and listeners are encouraged to Email their questions in at least two hours in advance to [email protected]. Other topics for subsequent panel discussions will include but not limited to:
The Housing Revolution: Its sustainability The VAT: Its impact on the economy.
 Renewable Energy: The real possibilities
29 Years of Political Independence: Constitutional Review and Electoral Reform
Tourism and Agriculture: Dominicas economic salvation.
 Environmental Protection: The choices.
It must be noted that the Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates held a very successful discussion in commemoration of the 80th Birthday of President Fidel Castro in August 2006 and the Guild was commended for the high level of discussion generated. The Guild intends to further improve on the high standards already established.

The Dominica Guild of Cuban Graduates is not affiliated to any political party, its membership is made up of Dominicans who graduated from learning institutions in Cuba and has been in existence for the last twenty years.
