Seven members of the Dominica opposition United Workers Party (UWP) are on their way to China at the official invitation of the Ruling Chinese Communist Party.
The delegation is headed by party leader Lennox Linton and includes Roseau South MP Joshua Francis, Danny Lugay Roseau North MP, Ezekiel Basil Wesley MP, Hector John Salisbury MP, Senator Felix Thomas and former UN Ambassador Crispin Gregoire.
According to an official release from the party, “the UWP Team will meet with officials of the government of China on China-Caribbean relations; economic growth policies; renewable energy, ICT, agro processing and light manufacturing opportunities; and prevention of corruption in public office among other areas of mutual development interest.
Team Leader Lennox Linton says “the parliamentary opposition welcomes this opportunity to explore first hand maximizing intelligent use of Dominica’s relationship with China for mutual benefit and the advancement of global civilization”.
The team left Roseau on Monday August 7 and will return on August 18.
