Port of Spain, Trinidad (TDN) --- Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani education activist, who shot to international fame after being shot in the face by the Taliban has arrived in Trinidad and Tobago for an official visit.
She arrived in the country on Sunday at the invitation of Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bisseseur. The young activist was accompanied by her parents and two brothers.
Upon arrival in Trinidad she was greeted at the airport by various government officials and a welcoming and appreciative crowd. Malala immediately praised the country for its stance taken on free education. She cited the fact that in Trinidad and Tobago education was free up to the university level.
Malala, who now lives in Birmingham, England, after her harrowing near death experience is in Trinidad and Tobago to continue her activism for free education with speaking engagements at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in Port of Spain.
