Roseau, Dominica (TDN) -- The 2014 Carnival season got officially underway yesterday with the opening of Carnival city. Scores of revelers jammed the streets of Roseau in the annual parade, which also saw on display the carnival queen contestants, the reigning calypso King, Dice, Miss Dominica 2013 Leslassa Armour, carnival princess contestants, flag wavers, and other masqueraders.
Carnival city will be the venue for the calypso king competition as well as the 2014 Miss Dominica Beauty pageant. The event will be staged on February 28, 2014 from 7:00 P.M.
Seven beautiful ladies will compete in this year's Pageant: Jewele Bianca Brown of Pointe Mitchel, Shalina Samuel of Stockfarm, Octavia Prosper of Laplaine, Royette Laurent of Portsmouth, Donnella Riviere of Roseau, Francine Tiffany Baron of Grandbay, and Tourence Bernita Dorsette of Marigot.
TDN Entertainment and MARPIN 2K4 are collaborating with the Dominica Festivals Committee to bring live streaming internet coverage of the event.
