Roseau, Dominica (TDN) -- Beginning on January 11, 2014 and eager to show its new face the Dominica United Workers Party (UWP) leadership team led by its political leader Lennox Linton will embark on a seven city tour in just ten days. Representatives of Team Dominica as they are more commonly referred to plan on meeting with overseas based Dominicans in the various cities.
UWP leader Lennox Linton notes that “it is important that our party gets its message of change and hope to the thousands of Dominicans residing overseas. Change because we cannot continue on the current path of governance in the country; and hope for a brighter and better economic and social future for Dominica.
A key feature of the meetings will be the UWP’s outlining its vision for the economic future of Dominica. In addition, it plans to listen attentively to the various inputs of persons in the Diaspora and wherever possible integrate those into its larger plans.
“As a government in waiting, we cannot stress how critically important the Dominican Diaspora is to the country’s overall development thrust. Already they are making a significant contribution through their level of remittances. However, we need to engage them in an even more substantive way because we understand the tremendous contribution that they can make,” says Linton.
Beginning on January 11, 2014 at 3:00 P.M the team will meet with residents in the Washington, DC area at the Six Presbyterian Church, 5413 16th Street, NW. The following day on January 12, 2014 the team will travel to New Jersey where they will meet with residents from that area at 50 Park Place, Newark, NJ at 2:00 P.M. Later that same day at 6:00 P.M they will engage with Dominicans residing in the New York area at 999 Greene Ave, Brooklyn, NY.
The tour continues on Tuesday January 14 with a stop at the Karibbean Konnection, 2620 Park Central Blvd. Decatur, GA, at 6:30 P.M, followed by a visit to Miami on Thursday January 16 with the meeting scheduled at 6:00 P.M for the Betty Ferguson Complex, 3000 NW 199th Street Miami Gardens.

Accompanying Linton on the tour will be Dr. Thomson Fontaine former IMF economist and representative designate for the Grand Fond constituency and attorney Joshua Francis who is the party’s designated representative for the Roseau South constituency.
