St Johns, Antigua (TDN) -- Police in Antigua say they are in hot pursuit of the two men who escaped from their custody but so far have not been able to apprehend them.

Kenroy Marshall and Kergus Martin Jr are suspects in the double slayings of Dominicans Alex Riviere and Alwin Robin who were killed execution style in October 2012 in that country.

The Police have mounted a round the clock search for the two and are appealing for the public’s help in securing their capture. They have also warned that anyone caught assisting the two will be guilty of breaking the law.

On Sunday evening, Kergus Martin Jr who was being held at the St John’s Police station in Antigua jumped through a bathroom window and made good his escape.

Just a few hours earlier, Marshall escaped the custody of the Montserrat Police who was returning him to Antigua. Police removed his handcuffs at the VC Bird International airport so he could sign some immigration papers. At that point, he attacked his Police escort, grabbed his belongings, ran across the runway and made good his escape.

Two weeks ago, Police received a tip that Marshall was holed up in a home in St Johns. They approached the house from the front and called for him to come out. Marshall then jumped from a back window successfully eluding the Police.

He turned up in Montserrat where he was apprehended before being returned to Antigua.

Dermouth Alix Riviere, age 32 and Alwin ‘DJ Bullet’ Robin age 34 of Dominica were found dead with bullet wounds to the head on Friday October 5, 2012 at around 10 A.M in Cedar Heights, Antigua.

Police also discovered about 35 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of E C $1.4 million. Since then they have arrested and charged two recently retired Police officers Arleigh Byer and Cosbert Sergeant on charges of possession of the cocaine and money laundering. They remain in jail after been unable to post bail.

The Antigua government requested and received assistance from the British Scotland Yard to conduct investigations into the murders. Meanwhile, the search for Marshall and Martin continue.

The Antigua Police is reeling from the recent highly publicized escapes and according to the Antigua Observer, Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Nuffield Burnette has announced the launching of an investigation into the escapes.
