Roseau, Dominica (TDN) -- Police in Dominica has arrested and charged one of their own. Constable Gerard Durand was arrested and charged for possession of a prohibited weapon.

His arrest comes almost two months after he was suspended with pay by the Police Service Commission along with Sergeant Philbert Bertrand for separate incidents involving possession of a prohibited weapon.

At the time of their suspension the Commission indicated that investigations were continuing and advised both men to not report to work until the investigations were completed.

Durand has been granted bail in the sum of $75 000.

In May 2012, Police Officer Ohssel Tyson was fired while awaiting trial for the theft of a government issued semi automatic pistol and several rounds of ammunition.
