Former IMF Chief reaches civil court settlement with woman accuser

The agreement was finalized in a New York court on Monday but no details were given of the monetary compensation believed to have been paid to Diallo. Before the court agreement, French newspapers had reported that Diallo was set to receive several million dollars in compensation, a charge denied by lawyers for Strauss Kahn.

In May 2011, Strauss Kahn who was at the time Managing Director of the Washington based IMF was accused of forcing Diallo, an immigrant from Guinea, to perform oral sex when she turned up to clean his room at a New York Hotel.

Hours after she reported the alleged rape, Strauss Kahn was pulled from a flight bound to Paris and arrested by New York Police. His arrest drew worldwide condemnation and ridicule and he was forced to resign his post as Managing Director.

Prosecutors in New York eventually dropped the criminal charges after claiming that Diallo changed her story and that she was less than truthful, a charge she firmly denied.

Diallo maintained that Strauss Khan emerged from his hotel bathroom naked, shoved her onto the bed, tried to rape her and forced her to perform oral sex. After the story broke, several women came forward with additional sexual allegations against Khan.
