Dominica coach pleased with team's WIPA 20/20 performance

Dominica's coach Leroy Jno Lewis is satisfied with his team's performance at the just concluded West Indies Players Association (WIPA) Twenty20 Invitational tournament in Trinidad.
Dominica advanced to the semi-final stage after securing victories over more fancied Trinidad and Tobago club teams Clarke Road United and CLICO Preysal.
Jno Lewis, who enjoyed his first stint as the national coach, said the players tried their best.
"Really, I must say that the team did well. The competition was of a very high standard and to reach the last four says something about the way the team played," he said.
"Our victories over the local clubs clearly indicate that the players gave a good account of themselves. However, I still believe that we could have gone all the way through and win the championship. But as they say, better luck next time," Jno Lewis said.
The coach had high praises for the team's fielding and bowling during the tournament.
"Again, I have to make mention of our bowling and fielding. Most of the time, these two areas of our game were at their best. We bowled very well and the bowlers were well supported in the field.
"The main problem we faced is that the batting was not what we expected. Having said that, taking all things into consideration ... the guys really made us proud," he concluded.
Dominica lost their semi-final match last Saturday by seven wickets to W Connection Wanderers, who finished runners-up to champions PowerGen.
