Karessah retains crown, Marcia Baptiste wins Miss Dominica 2010

Karessah has been crowned the 2010 Calpyso King retaining his crown for a second year in a row. Placing second was De Bob], third was Tasher P and fourth Soul Pous. Ten calypsonians competed for the coveted title.

Meanwhile, Marcia Baptiste was crowned Miss Dominica 2010. Baptiste, from the town of Portsmouth won from a field of seven beautiful ladies. She also won awards for Most Photogenic, Best Talent and Best in Evening Wear.

An ecstatic Miss Dominica told the adoring crowd that “she thanked God, kept true to him and worked hard.” She also said that she plan to work with the Diabetic Association to bring more attention to the dangers of diabetes.

Placing second was Dana Augustine and in third place was Christelle Fagan.

Miss Amity went to Christelle Fagan, Best Carnival Costume and Best in Carnival Costume went to Amy Polydore; Best in Swimwear went to Dana Augustine, and Clarissa Nicolls was awarded with Best Evening Gown and Best Question Response.

The carnival season will culminate with two days of street jump up on Monday and Tuesday.
