President Chavez unveils facility promises coffee plant and bank on Dominica visit

TheDominican.net Newsdesk

The Dominica government is expressing its satisfaction with the weekend visit of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to that country as he unveiled a $35 million oil-storage facility, and promised to install a coffee treatment plant and a branch of the ALBA bank in Dominica.

President Chavez paid his second visit to Dominica in as many years.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit lauded the Venezuelan leader and thanked Venezuela for its continued generosity to Dominica. Skerrit told a crowd gathered to see the Venezuelan president that “we must recognize the tremendous commitment of President Chavez and the people of Venezuela.

This is a leader with a vision. A leader who is prepared to use his friendship to extend a lending hand to many countries including Dominica and we thank God for Hugo Chavez.”

He also promised to supply free cooking gas to ‘poor people’, but he did not provide details on how this would be done. Skerrit has named the storage complex, which is located about five miles from the capital Roseau, "Waitukubuli," the Carib Indian name for Dominica.

In unveiling the complex, Chavez said that it will store 35,000 barrels of diesel, jet fuel and cooking gas. "Dominica will no longer have to concern itself about the supply of gasoline and oil," he told a cheering crowd. "All the oil Dominica will need for the next 200 years will be right there in Venezuela."

"Dominica will no longer have to concern itself about the supply of gasoline and oil," he told a cheering crowd. "All the oil Dominica will need for the next 200 years will be right there in Venezuela."

With oil prices above $50 a barrel, Petrocaribe members must pay 60 percent of their bills within 90 days and the remainder over the next 25 years at 1 percent interest. If oil prices rise to $80 a barrel, only half must be paid up front.

In commenting on the coffee treatment plant, the Venezuelan leader noted that it would be a state-of- the art facility aimed at increasing coffee production, “because your coffee is excellent, and we need to ensure food security in those regions. We cannot continue to bring in foods from beyond the ocean. All the food we need can be grown in this greater homeland called ALBA so we can ensure food sovereignty.”

According to the Venezuelan leader, Dominica would also benefit from a local branch of the ALBA Bank. He also used the opportunity to call on “the fishermen, students, children, soldiers and all of you, to play a major role in the construction of the homeland.”

In this his second visit to Dominica in as many years, supporters of the ruling Dominica Labour Party wearing red T-shirts in support of Chavez, lined the streets for about two miles as he made his way from the Canefield airport to the Gimit facility.

Opposition Leader Ron Green had just prior to the Venezuelan leader’s visit issued an open letter in which he urged Chavez to reconsider coming to Dominica since “ we are concerned and worried that our Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit may be opportunistically using you for his own selfish political ends in regards your upcoming visit to Dominica

Comments:
Skerrit is blided by the dollars but we Dominicans are not blind, we can see what is going on here and it will show in the vote when you are out in the cold where you belong, Mr Skerrit you dont deserve to be called prime minister,

And they closed down the whole DAMNED country just to host Chavez for a few hours! Go to Hell SKerrit!

So Skerrit is on red alert, does that mean we must all cower in fear and dread that he is comming, comming to do what? commit more offences of corruption, further insult very honourable members of oposing parties, brow beat the IPO into nothingness, attack the press, have more clandestine meetingas in casinos.

destroy the very foundations of brotherhood create a divide with dodgy money in order to violate the election process, appoint more felons into power along the lines of the twice disgraced George, bring us into further disrepute among nations.

comming to do what? he is a man not to be trusted, I would not pass by on his left side in the street or in fact any side for fear of being cursed for he most assuredly is, he needs to be on red alert for his time is up.

the airport was closed wrongly and caused great distress to many, to hand over our security to Venezuala is creating a very bad immage it sends out the message loud and clear that Skerrit will bend the knee to any one who wants to buy us, be that China or who ever else, Venezuela already own us, we are not free any more we are called Chindom province by the Chinese, I wonder what name chavez will conjour up.

This hero worshiping by Skerrit for Mr Chavez is lost on him Mr Cahvez will still assist a different party, he does not care a jot for Skerrit he is interested in his own agenda only, and to attempt to impress Chavez by giving him authority over our own very able security is a disgrace, the offers of compansation to those hundreds of stranded Dominicans, Americans, and others has sent out the wrong message, Skerrit will sell us down the river.

yes down the river to the highest bidder, he has to be stopped before it is too late, he is wrong for our land our birthright and our sovreignty, a rude, disrespectfull danger in our midst, he has to be ousted from sullying the country anymore

My Dominican people,I am convinced that you will eventually figure out what is going on here. Again I ask the questions, what does being a soveriegn nation mean to you? What does being an independent nation mean to you? I hope we have seen what they have made so obvious to all of us that Chavez in charge.. He is the Prime Minister of Domiica.

People while it is understood that security has to be provided for any head of state visiting our country. We have to go way over and beyound for Chavez. Every dictator is paranoid that someone is going to kill them, remember Saddam? He had food tasters,he wouldn't eat anything before one of his goons tasted it.

Not that I am not happy to see it backfire in their faces, but I concerned about the conseqences those kinds of things have for the country and the people of Dominica.

Are you serious? A coffee plant? Why is Chavez determining Dominican needs. Should not Skerrit have requested an agro-processing plant? Where is the coffee??? God help us!

Friends, we are sold, we have been bought, we are beggars and Comrade Chavez determnes our needs. Where is our national development plan, decided by us and owned by us. A coffee plant, whose idesa and how? Do you know the Minister of Agriculture knows nothing of this and it was on friday that they requested from our office, hurriedly, information about coffee. What a laugh when no research was put into this to know what the status of coffee is? Who determines our needs, who? Why is Skerritt so empty and clueless about the real needs of Domininca. Poor us , we have been reduced to malaways.
The BIN BOBOL issue is still outstanding, by the 14th it should be in the bank. Skerritt fly out off Domininca again this monrning (he spends about 5 days a month on island), why, where, well.....wait to hear. Maybe to get the money from Dopwell, or from the secret account. Where is Dopwell, where is the money. Did the Mayor of Roseau not get it on his recent trip tp Sweden. There is more to come on the fertilser and minsters who take money otherwise from poor pepole. We will keep you informed. This Skerrit government is corrupt, visionless, dangerous about to lose the elections and using Dictator Chavez to come here to prompt them up, it has backfired, it will not work.
Long live Dominica.......and Dominicans, we are independent

So Chavez likes Dominica coffee and decides that we need a coffee plant! Wow. Where is the coffee coming from. There was little attempt to replant coffee after Hurrican david. While there is some coffee in Dominica that grew on their own accord, one doubts there is enough to keep a plant going.

Maybe we should start with the grapefruit, mangoes etc. that goes to waste daily? Where is the VISION for our country??

I wonder if the things that Venezuela has given to Dominica were given by the EU or US if most of us here would think of them in a different way. Would we have question or seek-out a motive for such gifts if they were from the EU or US?

Further, what exactly is the problem with Venezuela or its leader that most people here have? I am lost! Do we have a problem with Chavez because he openly spoke out about the ills of the USA while most people stayed silence? Are we simply echoing or carrying out the negative stigma on Chavez as was advised by the US? Before Chavez's open criticized the US leadership, they the US were good friends of Venezuela and danced with them on many issues including the building up of Venezuela's arm forces! It was cool and fine and it fattened the US purses so then Venezuela and Chavez were OK. But the minute Venezuela/Chavez pointed out the US selfish treatment of other countries (in that case the greedy occupation of Iraq), he Chavez became evil and is every negative thing that could be.

I know most of us here have aligned ourselves not only to Dominica or the Caribbean but also to our new host country. And by virtue of association, we try to blend in and even begin to think like the people of these countries we have adopted. Most of us ignorantly stopped eating “French fries” when France didn’t join the collision forces in Iraq because the people of our new homeland considered France “unfriendly”. We shout when we were told to shout, stoop when we were told to, and ridiculed others when the leaders of our new home country asked us to do so. Many of us even joined the band-wagon and boycott Chevron gas because it was Venezuelan own and here it was that the leader of that country was calling the leader of our new homeland out. His was unaccepted for this Venezuelan leader to call out our new homeland leader so openly like that even though he was saying exactly what most of use were saying personally. We stateside could vote that leader out and call him an @#*-hole but it was a grave sin for Chavez to do so. As a matter of fact it was so grave that we will do what it takes and go after anyone or country that points out the ills of our new homeland and even go back home to Dominica and the Caribbean and mobilize the people there to join this bandwagon against these leaders and countries who had the audacity to point out our new homeland and its leaders ill doings!

In that light, let me be the 1st to tell you all that it doesn’t matter if Venezuela or Cuba or any other country (did I hear China) help us with our struggles while our rich close neighbors ignore us…we must question these countries motive for they are land grabbers and really out to get us. Were it the US or the EU, that would be cool for they are not land grabbers and have no intention to influence us nor control our every actions. As a matter of fact I would tell you that it doesn’t matter what the history books show about the EU member nations and the ills of colonization or about the US and the many land grabbing they have done (PR, western USA, Navesa right here in the Caribbean, ect) they are actually the ones that care about Dominica and have always had Dominica best interest at heart. On the other hand, these Venezuelans and their leader Chavez, Cuba and the Castro brothers, and now China….these countries are bad news. They are all just looking to take over Dominica and turn it into a hell-hole. And thus, I urge the people of Dominica, please listen to our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora. They know best! They love you and Dominica and just want to point you in the right direction!

Well the new form of colilism in DA is from Venezuela. Just think that our air space was closed for the entire day while five Venezuelan planes landed. Chavez folks took over the control tower at Melville Hall. Where is the dignity of our people and country? Ask Skerrit and Vince and they will tell you. This is soo stupid.

Did that happen in Trinidad when Obama landed? Skerrit and his crew don’t know what they are doing. Have you heard of such nonsense and madness in a sovereign nation in this modern day and era? O men we are just a banana republic begging for handouts from Uncle Chavez. Where is our sustainable development plan? Yes you guessed it –a coffee processing plant-I guess Uncle Chavez likes coffee that is only what matters.

Skerrit why don’t you go about your business and leave Dominica for its people? Thanks for your service and please leave. Folks were stranded in San Juan, B/dos all over. The airlines did not know what was happening. This is such a dam shame-

We are in trouble and we are the butt of jokes with this bacchanal going on with incompetent Skerrit and his crew of hustlers. Hopefully they will be out of office soon. Chang e DA’s name to the land of shame and indignity. Skerrit must go…Skerrit must go

well now then after Matt's programme this morning who is lying to who, is it Dopwells half brother, or is it Skerrit?

he said he not only wrote to his beloved prime minister stating that he never had any dealings with his half brother, but told him face to face as well, are they both lying who are they going to blame now? Dopwell himself?

however many dollars they throw at us no matter if they cover every inch of the land with the so called corrupt red cñinics it will never ever make this go away not ever, now we have ministergate verses prime ministergate my God no ammount of spin can resolve this mess they have conjoured up.

and conjouring is the right word they are blessed by evil forces get em out exorcise them, drive them from the land. this is urgent now very urgent.

All this charade is frightening...Naming an oil refinery after our country is undeniably sacriligious at best and direspectful at worse. Please do not desecrate our country in such a fashion.. There is not enough currency in this world to compensate for a land such as ours. This naming is truly detestable. Sorry, but we are now the laughing stock of the free world....

Are you an Arse, becuase you sound just like Eddiot, Sam Christian, Ron Lazy Green, Pappy all wraped in one.

Did you really think of what you wrote before you posted this arrogant peice of jibberish.

What is the uwp appear so evil?

We have protested in the past to the EC, USA, USAID, UN affiliaed groups to treat us with respect. We have fought that we are treated with respect by these orgainsiations and that we ought to have a say in our development. Venezuela is not the issue, Chavez is not the issue. The issue is PM Skeriit who is inept, who flouts (to show contempt for a law or convention by openly disobeying or defying it) noisely at Chavez and shows no respect for Dominica`s sovereignty. NO one, no leader should be allowed to come to Dominica and allowed to behave like it is a private party. Now, I ask, was this a Labour Party campaign event, begging event or was it a Governmetn official event. If it was the latter why is it that everyone was asked to wear red, the colour of the Labour Party. Why is it that buses etc was hired to transport people. That is why people will take objection, because this parade was not seen as a National even but as a Labour Party event, therefore Labour Party members and followers were invited and transported at the expense of all Dominicans.
How sad, ......WE WANT SJKERRIT OUT, LABOUR OUT......TOO MUCH BIN BOBOL, FERTLISER BOBOL......CONSTITUENCY BOBOL........BDS AND OTHER BOARDS BOBOL. We cry for decency and peace in our country

EVIL uwp

Hi train you come across as an agressive nasty person insulting without due process of thought if you are typical of the type of army that Skerrit is building then God help us all inclusive of you,

Dominicans first foremost not Skerrit and his army of beying individuals hero worshiping for a few dollars, well Train you may frighten some of our brothers and sisters but be sure you dont frighten me, grace mercy and peace

This is all rather disturbing you know brothers and sisters, I predicted trouble would raise its head and it is looking like it just might, a war between the have's and the have nots, I was right then and I am right now.

Skerrits army is becoming just a little frightening, intimidating, threatening, this is exactly what happens in unstable governments where corruption reigns unhindered, read the press of the world we are in trouble especially those of us who do not tow the Skerrit line.

His army of followers have sent a clear warninmg to us in this medium. and we all know dont we that we cant call the police for help. I am out of words God have mercy on us.

VOTE LABOUR

do not worry people who threaten like in the dominica breaking news item never do it is the quiet ones you watch, and who has been the most silent of each and every point raised by concerned Dominicans only Skerrit.

Let him conscript his army it wont make any diference truth to power, he is history

you know politics is a funny thing,it has caused the making of great statesmen, it has ruined many also, each have a place in history. there is no doubt in my mind at all, that Mr Skerrit has achieved several things, and for those things he has to be congratulated.

but on the othr hand some of the decisions he has made are bewildering, and only serve to bring question, everyone knows about Ambrose, and to bring him back is illogical, it raises unwanted questions and only serves to embarrass.

The clever thng is to be seen standing up for what is good for Dominica, and this appointment of Ambrose is clearly sending out the wrong message, likewise with wanting new ambassadors, the dust has not even begun to settle yet on the last of bewildering appointments.

And it is these unusual choices that get peoples backs up, and you can not blame them,Dominica is a small island everyone knows more or less what everyone is up to, that is not rocket science that is common sence.

ok there are many bobols ocuring at the present, and these have not been addressed with reasoned logical answers, this gets peoples backs up, and when a new bobol comes along it serves not only to weaken the labour party as a whole, but to strengthen opposition.

it is things like the decision to shut down the airport and ensure that Chavez only observes a sea of red shirts, I am sure that many of us would just like to have seen a quick look at him, but it was exclusive private, only open the the party faithful.

A sensible politician takes the advice of his advisors, and then sums up wethere or not the advice he ahs been given is good or bad, and then makes his own judgement to avoid controversy, here we witness the stance of to hell with evryone I will do what I want when ever I want.

Not very clever or logical, and you bring further unwanted spotlight on yourself, to buy votes is very dangerous, (the red clinics)who ever advised you of this scaheme is not a politician, for it is seen as creating unfair advantage, for there will be many who stand with their hands oustretched not aware of what they are doing fully or the implications of it. and brings even more questions.

Politicians are remebered normally not for the good they have done, they are remembered for the controversy brought about by wrong decision making and bobol, it is a fact that in political life you are only as good as your last mistake. and that is what you will be remembered for.

You have listed some of the many ugly things that Skerrit has done and there are alot more, trust me a lot more to come and unearth. This country is going ot the Bin, you seem to ber an inteligent person, therefore please stand up for justice and good governance and NOT Skerrit ebcause of......whatever. Skerrit assunes that he has done many things and all that has been created in Domininca is a hand out and dependcncy syndrome, daddy give all attitude. Our country is NOT developing., there are no sustainable development programmes as and these short term , hand outs fiasco is only killing our people and the country. Thanks to Lenox we now know of all the corrupt practices and deliberate attempt to defraud the country of revenue. This is NOT good and MUST NOT be tolerated and welcomed, it is sad. Our country is in a frenzy of handouts, it is now cooking gas and rather put programmes in place for our youth to wprk, we are preparing them to receive hand outs after their parents. The country is not growing, there are no signs for employment, it is a serious dependency syndrome being created in this coubtry,. Please help save it from this government.

There is attempted good by Skerrit but ill advised, vision less, tou chou too flam, stubborness, distraction s for personal wealth and gain, playboy attitude and questionale deeds have caused serious distraction. This is the behaviour and symptoms of a child at 31 given to run a business mwith absolute no experinece, knoweldge in management techniques. It was a sserious mistake and error on Dominicas part. Greed, distractions and questionable deeds caused this man to run this country like a big soap opera and now we are the audience as Dominicas credibilty continues to be big laugh.
God Hlep, please get this man and hos group of bandits OUT.

uwp, wicked evil people

UWP now have sound leadership and some people are scared. Something you cannot say about this labour party, more bobol wil come out. It is only a wicked person who will purchase land in Dominica and Steal the country`s money and not pay tax, if that was a poor malawa they would have already gone to prison. It is only wicked people who use their friends and half brother to puchase bins and charge the people of Dominca over price, tha uis robbery and theft, and PM, mayor are all guilty and wicked. If it was Astaphans who ahd over charge you for milk you would have cried foul, why is it when the PM SKerritt steals our money, openly for bin and fertilizer it is ok. Principle is principle, wrong is wrong and anyone who accepts it and do not talk about the wrong are all wicked people. Astaphan earned over $95, 000.00 to investigate the UWP, the only person who has benefitted from it is Astaphan and we have poor peole like you in Dominica who are stuggling to survive and make a dollar and others accounts are getting fatter. Dominica has lost $95,000.00 and that nmoney is public money and happily in the bank account of Senior counsel, Astaphan and he knows he lied about corruption .....tat is wicked. We need good governance and fair practice in Donminica. PM Skerrit is not good for Dominica, there is NO development in this country, only hand outs. The country is not making money and they have no ideas, we must kick out these wicked people and this wicked and corrupt government NOW.

The assult on the press is intensifying in Dominica. It is in high gear!! The story of Hot Seat this morning is just an indication of what's to come.. I saw Dominica heading into dictatorship long, long time ago, I put out the warning and was veified mercilessly for it. I also know that when the bell tolls the vigilant and virtuous shall be victorious. Thanks to the internet and forward looking people like Dr. Fontaine who provided this uncensored forum for people to express thier opinions. We cannot and should not depend on the zeezee so called mainstream media they have in Dominica, especially DBS radio. Lennox and q95 deseres a Peabody award! Dominica Online news is a frace!! Maximum censorship going on there to.. But the voices of dissent will not be stiffled. The Facts will get out someway, somehow. They will hear us all from every rooftop, and on every forum on the internet.

Shirley Allan

Shirley, keep on blah-blahing. Your bias and anti-skeritt opinion is nothing but hot air. Just keep in mind Dominicans know better that's why your words mean nothing. Keep in mind that you and your buddies will continue blah-blahing for the next five years in opposition because when Dominicans go to the polls they will be voting for progress and good governance which is not part of the UWP agenda. Mr. Green still hasn’t presented any solid plans for the country. What is the UWP’s position on China and Venezuela? Are they going to continue relationships with them or just dump them and go back to Taiwan? The UWP leadership is nothing but a bunch of opportunists hoping to get a free pass on the propaganda talk on corruption. Labour for 2010!

Whoever the anonymous which directly addressed me, I offer you this.. Read and digest if you can! Do you see yourself between the pages? I see you there.

The Problem of the Loyal Henchmen is a subset of the more familiar Problem of Authority. Why does authority command obedience? A man who tells you to pick your gum wrapper up off the sidewalk is generally ignored; a man in a uniform who makes the same request, even if it’s the uniform of a bus driver, is instinctively obeyed..... The Problem of the Loyal Henchmen arises when people willingly obey authorities everyone knows to be evil..... In a totalitarian society true authority is altogether destroyed.” He meant that a key feature of totalitarian societies is the absence of any reliable legal or political structure. Totalitarian rule is experienced as arbitrary rule: the citizen never knows when the knock on the door may come. Another name for this is “terror.”

.....The mysterious part of totalitarianism’s appeal—and here we return to the Problem of the Loyal Henchmen—is that its official ideology can be, and usually is, absurd on its face, and known to be absurd by the leaders who preach it.
..... Do the loyal henchmen obey the dictator out of fear or out of conviction? When the pistol is no longer pointed at their heads, do they reveal their true identities as liberal pluralists? Or was it the pistol that they loved all along?

..... One feels, too, that liberty and democracy are not so easily pried apart—the one requires something of the other all along the line—and that, in any case, no single formula fits all societies. Sometimes autocracies give way peaceably to democratic regimes, and sometimes bloody revolutions are necessary.......

The result, “Talk of the Devil: Encounters with Seven Dictators” (is fascinating. Orizio’s subjects are not just ordinary, run-of-the-mill ex-dictators. They are: Idi Amin, of Uganda, now enjoying life as a guest of the Saudis; Jean-Bédel Bokassa, of the Central African Republic, known to the people of that country as the Ogre of Berengo; Wojciech Jaruzelski, the Soviets’ Polish puppet; Nexhmije Hoxha, who (with, until his death, her husband, Enver) ruled Albania for nearly fifty years; Jean-Claude (Baby Doc) Duvalier, who got run out of Haiti in 1986; Mengitsu Haile Mariam, the Marxist-Leninist dictator of Ethiopia; and Mira Markovic, the wife of Slobodan Milosevic, who is currently on trial in The Hague for crimes against humanity. (Manuel Noriega, from his Florida prison cell, politely declined a meeting, on the ground, as he put it in a letter to Orizio, that he was by no means yet in the category of forgotten dictators. “God,” he explained, “has not yet written the last word on manuel a. noriega!”)

Each ex-dictator is mad in his own way, but what almost all of them insist on, in their interviews with Orizio, is that everything they did—the torture, the starvation, the looting of the nation’s wealth, the murder of political opponents—was for the good of their country. The alternatives were chaos, colonization, or slaughter. These men and women were, in their own minds, patriots. They validate John Adams’s old warning that “power always thinks it has a great soul.” The degree of cognitive dissonance involved in being a person who oppresses people out of love for them is summed up in a poster that Baby Doc Duvalier had put up in Haiti. It read, “I should like to stand before the tribunal of history as the person who irreversibly founded democracy in Haiti.” And it was signed “Jean-Claude Duvalier, president-for-life.”

...The point is that order and autonomy were preserved. Most of them say to Orizio what Saddam Hussein is no doubt saying to whatever loyal henchmen may be remaining to him: Look at my country now! The henchmen are nodding solemnly in agreement. Is it because they agree or because they are afraid not to agree? Possibly they no longer know the difference. ♦

Shirley stop the fear mongering! No one is listening to that stuff. You keep ignoring the point that the UWP has no plans for the country. Do you think that notion of the pot calling the kettle black is enough to solve Dominica's economic as well as social problems? Shirley open your eyes and don't be blinded by your hatred and anger towards Mr. Skeritt and the Labour Party. This government is taking the country forward. Did you see that article on Dominicanewsonline.com, “US report critical of Caribbean countries?” I did not see Dominica on that list. Is this a mistake or signs of a government that is performing? But again you all might accuse the government of selling the country to the U.S. ummm…..Based on all what i have read and heard your cry of corruption is nothing more than the mirage of corruption that has plagued your angry minds. I remember when I used to hear ministers in the UWP administration laugh and say "it's our turn now" when they were doing all their foolishness in office. Do you think that’s what Dominica needs? There is no way anyone should endorse those losers. Oh, one last thing....where are the Christian brothers? They have been silent for a while. I thought they were gaining support but it looks like have thrown in the towel and jumped on the UWP band wagon. Please let Dr. Sam know that we are waiting for more Youtube videos since he does not have the time to travel to Dominica. The conversation has begun  …..

I am the person who eneded my article by saying that you are only as good as your last mistake and that is what you will be remembered for.

I sincerely apologise to every brother and sister I have voted labour since I was able to vote, having considered evry point, read every article, discussed it with friends I withdraw my support for Skerrit.

Bobol corruption dogmatism is not what I voted for in any sence, the list is far too long to go through, one of the things that have convinced me apart from the scandals entitled bobol is the disrespect.

disrespect for Judith, Mr Green, Dr Christian, Pappy beloved by us all, whichever party you support, this is not what I voted for not what I expected from Mr Skerrit.

labour party the basis is founded on those who labour in the feilds, in the offices, in the docks, the markets, the fishermen,to the nurses, to the professional people, to who all pay their taxes, to have those taxes abused is not what i voted for.

I and a lot of my freinds and family and their families feel exactly the same, to vote for Skerrit now only serves to endorse his wrong ways, therefore with a heavy heart I have to make a diiferent choice, but brothers and sisters in my apology to you rest assured it will not be for Skerrit

Speak for yourself, the person who addressed me. I am confident 100% confident that the Dominicans I know will eventaully get it.. Keep on with your insults and vilification of those you do not agree with, but every time I see comments like the one just above that one, I do a back flip, there will be many more of those to follow.. Trsut me!! The Christian Brothers and everybody esle you ask about will speak for themselvs, I am sure they are quite capable of doing that. As a great US president once said "You don't have to give them hell, just give them the truth and they will think is hell."" Keep on doing what you doing, it serves us well.

Power in the wrong hands is one one that is best described as the most corrptive of influences, I am a close freind of the person who wrote the "last mistake" article, I respect as long standing freind his anonymity.

Should Dominica appreciate who he is they would appoint him to be a PM, This person has been one of the main stallwarts of the Labour Party for many years, when he quits, due to the wrongs wreaked upon our society by the Skerrit organisation then it is time to quit with him.

there is at the moment an undercurrent undermining these outrages against democricy, the main silent organiser who I am attempting to pursuade to show himself is reticent, but I hope in the futuire days to ask him to come into the open.

should he "please decide to" that would be the end of Skerrit, this person is a true labourite, stainless, and a true upholder of governance in every form, but is deeply hurt by the actions of Skerrit. for without this persons influence he would never ever been PM

He is terribly let down in every sence, as is Dominica; I am moved to state these things against his advice, but in dangerous times such as we as Dominicans are experiencing at present strong methods are required.

We all heard the Spanish private detective Mr Sinclair on between u and me expose the lies and deciept of Ambrose, we heard the false attempt to excuse the behaviour and yet he is re appointed, what kind of stupidity is this,

What does Ambrose assume us to be stupid to believe such lies, does he think for one moment that we have forgotten the solen dollars from his house, everyone saw through it, lies,

What about our exchange students, arrested, any man who expects us to believe him because he appears to be a church going man has to be insane.

and the 419 scam, and the Pùerto Rican FBI matter, sorry Ambrose we have not forgotten, the dealings with PCB bank the close aliance with the fraudster Giraud, everyone knows where he goes every Friday and why Dominica is too samll for us not to know,

and the decision by Skerrit to re appoint him is ludricous, this is but one small example that we have discussed that has decided us to leave the Labour and vote alternatively,

Dominica is on the verge of a dictatorship, along the lines of how Mr Chavez controls his people, but Mr Skerrit had best be alert to the fact ( not that he takes advice, from anyone) that there is division in his own ranks and closer to home than he could ever immagine.

The Ambrose saga is at the bottom of the pile when all the bobolgate affairs are evidenced before us, this again is not what we voted for, not what we wanted or expected from Skerrit,

Dr christian IO have to admit is right in the you tube blog when he said any vote for which ever party is one that Skerrit does not get, and this is vital if we are to beat corruption in high office.

good governance is the mainstay of politicañ suevival in every sence, I would love to be able to say as others do that Skerrit is finished but I wont, what i will say that thewre is a growing undercurrent within the labour ranke that will show itself at the election time.

When people like Allan voley and fly to America they have to let the stipute of limitation run out before they can return home. So is Earl Williams.

So sister S can't return to Dominica, so let her stay blah blah blah in America.

Sister S, when will the time expire? When can you retun to La Plaine

Go ahead I give you the permission to say exactly what I voley when and where.. Go head you have me full permission. I promise I will not sue you, after all, people can sue for libel and slander only when what was said about them is NOT facutal, so my dear sister or brother, let the cat out of the bag for the whole world to know what Shirley voley, when she voley it, from who she voley it and when she voley it.. I am waiting with anticipation to her it.. Don't disappoint me now..

But I am not worried for her, she can handle all of all you in her usual style. None of you can fit her shoes.. You go sister Shirls, do you thing, just keep it the THE level you are on right now, don't all any pig to get you in the labow with them. Let them enjoy their labow by themslves. To La Plaine For Ron:

Words can be very damaging.

Libel is any Defamation that can be seen, such as a writing, printing, effigy, movie, or statue. Slander is any defamation that is spoken and heard.

Collectively known as defamation, libel and slander are civil wrongs that harm a reputation; decrease respect, regard, or confidence; or induce disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against an individual or entity. The injury to one's good name or reputation is affected through written or spoken words or visual images. The laws governing these torts are identical.

You have cross the line by calling the sister a "voley and fly to America" without presenting the proof of the statement.

Shirley Allan. Are you on welfare in a America. Why you are sounding
so bitter.

No I am not on welfare, and I am not bitter at all. My life is an opened book. I have nothing to hide. I lost my job because of the economic situation, and I was on uneployment, That means that I had a job. Not that it is any of your business, but just to show that I have absoluetly nothing o hide. I wish the people the Dominica Government were the same. See I am transparent what about your Governent? You Dumb A**. What does my being on welfare even if I was have to do with the issues discussed here?

Chavez Crackdown Goes From Airwaves to Coffee Beans
Monday, August 03, 2009

Print ShareThisVenezuela's socialist President Hugo Chavez, who pulled the plug on 34 radio stations that broadcast opposition news, turned his attention Monday to the country's coffee plants.

Chavez seized control Monday of Venezuela's two largest coffee processing plants, claiming they were illegally smuggling coffee out of the country to sell at a higher price. The Venezuelen leader threatened to expropriate the businesses if a government-run investigation reveals the plants violated the law.

The crackdown came just two days after Chavez revoked the licenses of 34 radio stations, ruling the stations were operating illegally. The closings were met with fierce protests from international media groups and human rights activists that have accused the government of trying to stifle dissent.

Chavez said previously that the revoked licenses could be given to broadcasters who share his socialist vision.

More than 200 other radio stations are under investigation, as is Globovision — the only strongly anti-Chavez television station remaining on the open airwaves. Lawmakers, meanwhile, are discussing a bill that would punish yet-to-be-defined "media crimes" with up to four years in prison.

Some 200 Venezuelans gathered outside a Caracas radio station over the weekend to protest Chavez's decision.

The demonstration occurred outside CNB 102.3 FM, which cut its over-the-air transmission Saturday morning on orders from the telecommunications regulatory agency and is now transmitting only over the Internet.

Station director Zaira Belfort said CNB planned to appeal the order, but she warned that the shutdown decision is likely "only the beginning of the closures of free media in Venezuela."

"This is a government attack," she said. "We want to keep living in democracy, and once again they've silenced us."
